Seems like Batfans will have to wait at least two years for the Dark Knight sequel to hit theaters.
Christopher Nolan will be preoccupied directing a new film titled Inception for Warner Bros. in the near future. The film has been described as “a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.”
In case you’ve been living under a rock this whole time, The Dark Knight was a huge box-office hit, raking in 600m. It’s also the second-highest gross of all time.
Warners bros. is playing it smart and taking it slow for the sequel, to let it come to its full potential. If you remember three years passed between the first Christian Bale-fronted venture, 2005’sBatman Begins, and last year’s The Dark Knight. In between that time Nolan released the fantasy thriller The Prestige, starring Bale and Hugh Jackman as rival magicians.
