He must be pretty hard up for money if he’s coming out with this stuff now! Apparently Barbra Streisand’s ex-lover, Barry Dennan, has some early recordings of the singer and he’s just now coming forward with them – 50 years later! He’s hoping to auction off the tapes for a cool million dollars and Streisand is none too pleased. She is taking legal action against Dennan to have the auction stopped.
Dennan told the New York Post:
“I refused to give the tapes back. I said, ‘No. They are the only things I have left of our collaboration’. I’m a little trepidatious. I don’t know what the fallout will be. I don’t like upsetting Barbra, and I don’t want her fans angry with me.”
Um…too late! And if you really didn’t want them angry, you’d give her rightful possessions back to her.
This is not the first time Dennan has tried to cash in on the Streisand bandwagon, in 1997 he published a memoir entitled, “My Life With Barbra: A Love Story”. The recordings feature Barbra rehearsing at a New York nightclub with the songs Keepin’ Out of Mischief Now, I Want to be Bad, Love Come Back to Me and Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf.
