What is with all of the celebrity icon deaths this summer? We’re sad to report that legendary guitarist and guitar maker, Les Paul has died at the age of 94. He was the guy that invented the electric guitar and to him we are grateful for that for paving the way for just about every band out there today. He also had a band with his then wife, Mary Ford called Les Paul and Mary Ford. Paul was also the inventor of multi-track recording which is something every musician of today has benefitted from, no matter what genre.

Paul died from complications due to pneumonia at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side.

Les Paul has influenced many famous guitarists including Slash of Guns N’ Roses, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and dozens more. His line of guitars was the most sought after and premium brand as mass produced by Gibson Guitars.
