This is our second interview in our “New Music” series with a band called Disruptive Creatures. They’re a brand new band with an electronic dance beat. If you like the industrial techno, you’re gonna want to check them out!

Epic Bull: Please first introduce yourselves and who is in the band and tell our readers all about Disruptive Creatures!

Jordan: I’m Jordan, and I split the music-making duties with vIZZI. Disruptive Creatures started out as a nameless musical project of mine, and after a few song collaborations with vIZZI, we decided to dedicate ourselves to the idea of forming a band, thus Disruptive Creatures was born.

vIZZI: Is this guy right here.  I sing for Tragic Black and Corvid too and one day, Jordan (who’s also the graphic designer for  Tragic Black) showed me his songs and totally made me want to be in a band with him.  Then I wrote lyrics called, “Disruptive Creatures,” and the rest was like electric dynamite

EB: So your band is an electronic band, but what microniche would you put your songs into? Trance? Ambient? Techno?

J: It’s pretty difficult to pin Disruptive Creatures down to one niche since each of our songs are so diverse and different from one another. Our influences vary drastically and that reflects in the music- we have tracks like “Burning Down Viscera Walls” and “Optic Discharge” that are very dark and moody, and then we have songs like “Radioactive” which are completely Pop and meant for a dancefloor. However, since we are completely electronic, I think something like electro-pop would do us justice. Living so far from each other too affects the sound of our songs.

v: Jordan is right, always is. And did I ever mention that we have never met in person?  I live in Salt Lake City, he lives on the Eastcoast and we have a great friendship.  The internet & cell phones rule, btw.

EB: Now currently on MySpace, you have three songs in your repertoire, do you have plans to record a full length CD?

J: Indeed. We each write our own songs and are still in the process of recording. Between the two of us we have near 20 songs written, so hopefully by 2010 we will have enough completed material to release an album.

v: We plan to keep you on the dancefloor.

EB: Who are some of your musical influences and what got you into electronica?

J: I’ve always been a fan of electronic music, and in my adolescent years I began listening to a lot of industrial- Dismantled, Leaether Strip, Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Hocico, etc. So naturally I developed an interest in creating music of that nature. However, my tastes are not exclusive to industrial, they include everything from Rozz Williams to Ladytron to The Chameleons to Rudimentary Peni to AFI to The Sisters of Mercy.

v: Back in the day it was: Visage, New Order & Skinny Puppy.  Time goes on and it’s: Fischerspooner, Electric Valentine, Crystal Castles & Blaqk Audio.  I love all kinds of music, too, especially AFI & Motley Crue.

EB: Thank you for your time. We wish you the best of luck! Any parting words for our readers?

J: Thanks a lot for taking interest in us, and check us out!

v: JUST DANCE.
