This is a really fun band from St, Louis, Missouri called Ele and they’ve got some fun and catchy acoustic tunes. This pop rock ensemble sat down with us for an email chat and this is how the interview went.

EpicBull: Hello Ele! Thank you for talking to EpicBull. Please introduce yourselves and your music.

Ele: HEY!! we are Ele and we are a band from Missouri! yea. the show me state =) . You have Sean on guitar and me (Sarah) on vocals. Drums are done by our pal Kyle who is in a little band called Boys Of Summer. Check them out as well!

EB: Your MySpace page describes your sound as “acoustic” which there definitely is some of that but then there are songs like “Talk To Me” that has way more than just an acoustic sound. What is the definitive sound of Ele?

Ele: Really I don’t think we have a definite “sound”, I think we try to go for a more feeling than sound. I mean there is a new song on our new EP called “Sun” that has a vintage Beatles type “sound” but that’s only because we felt like the song portrayed that sound. We hope our music brings out some sort of emotion. A lot of times with songs we will write them and we will say “hey this song would sound good with electric guitars” or “hey we should put drums in this song” I guess we label ourselves acoustic because everything stems from us jamming out to acoustics and writing songs like that. Also its because there are only two of us so when you see us live, the show will most likely be acoustic.

EB: Currently you are recording an EP, do you have a name for it yet?

Ele: Yes we are and it has been an awesome journey. A long journey but an awesome one! We are going to be calling the new EP “Stars & Moons”; it’s the name of one of the first songs we ever wrote and its also on our page currently. I think that if we had a “sound” that would portray what we are trying to do.

EB: Your MySpace page says that you’ll be going on tour after the EP is out, will you be going out alone or do you hope to go out with another band?

Ele: We will probably be going out alone doing a few Midwest shows and such. We hope to expand our dates to cover a lot more of the nation, but as for now it’s just going to be us and a few Midwest shows. But that could change, just keep an eye out.

EB: If you could go out on tour with any other band out there, past or present, who would it be?

Ele: If I could go on tour with anyone I would really want to go on tour with probably Michelle Branch, or Ingrid Michaelson. Or getting to go on tour with our online band friends Hillary Saunders, or Sydney Sprague would be great too. We will eventually go on tour with all of them…..pray for us!!!!!

EB: Who are some of your musical influences?

Ele: We as a group have a lot of influences from country, to pop, to rap to electronica to hardcore screamo and whatever else is out there. But if we could name a few artists they would probably be Colbie Caillat, Brand New, Lights, Joss Stone, Adele. There’s just so many its hard to name them all, oh and anime theme songs are usually awesome.

EB: At what age did you start singing and when did you know you wanted to become a singer?

Ele: Well I started singing from birth. I think everyone can sing and I think it’s the first musical instrument you are born with. Just some people decide to perform in front of people and some don’t. I think I realized I wanted to become a singer when I was real young like 11 or 12.

EB: I must say that I was actually really impressed by the hooks in your music, especially “Talk To Me”. Do you write all of your own tunes or is it a group effort?

Ele: A lot of times it’s a group effort we all kinda dabble in each others field of musical expertise. So our band is really 50/50 when it comes to the amount of effort and creativity you hear in our songs.

EB: Well thank you for talking to EpicBull today. Is there anything else you want to say to our readers?

Ele: I just want to say thank you EpicBull for even talking to us. Really dig the site and also say thank you to everyone who is listening to us, talking to us, and telling their friends about us. We really appreciate it, and we hope we can continue to make delightful music for you. Thanks again!
