Today we’ve got a super interesting band who’s a mixture of screamo/electronica and visual arts. They’re called “Surrender The Dance Floor” and they took the time to share with me a few questions. Check them out!
EpicBull: Hello Surrender The Dance Floor! Thanks for taking the time to talk to EpicBull. Do you wanna tell us a little bit about your band and when/how you formed?
Surrender The Dance Floor: Heys guys! Surrender the Dance Floor is a screamo/hardcore/electronica band and were based out of Waterbury, CT!! We basically consist of 6 best friends who all grew up in some sort of way with each other, whether it be in school or the local music scene. We all are freshmen/sophmores in college, with our vocalist, Austin, only being 15 years old.
EB: How would you describe the sound of Surrender The Dance Floor?
STDF: We think we have a very unique sound..bringing a more harder sound to the electronic poppy rock, while still keeping it fun and catchy at the same time.
EB: I saw on your MySpace page that you did a remix of Lady GaGa’s “Just Dance” with your screamo/electronica vocals. I really liked it! Not even lying. How did you come up with that idea? Are you guys into dance/club as well?
STDF: We were thinking of a great, popular song to cover..and at the time “Just Dance” was all over TV and the radio, we figured we’d be able to pull it off, due to the fact it had a very techno feel to it, like our music.
EB: Who are some of your musical influences besides Lady GaGa?
STDF: We wouldn’t really say Lady GaGa is an influence of ours..but some who top the list would be The Devil Wears Prada, Attack Attack!, I See Stars, and A Day to Remember.
EB: Do you guys have a current release available and if so, where can our listeners find it?
STDF: We just finished recording an EP….hopefully within the next couple of months it will be distributed to Hot Topic and Best Buy, and of course, iTunes! But for now we have two songs up for sale on iTunes.
EB: Are you guys playing any upcoming shows and if so, where can our readers go to find your schedule?
STDF: We usually play 8-10 local CT shows per month, and were planning a winter tour..so be on the look out for us!
EB: Thanks for taking the time to talk to us at EpicBull. I was thrilled to hear some of your songs and we hope our readers enjoy you too! Any parting thoughts for the readers at EpicBull?
STDF: If you’ve already done so, thank you for checking us out! If you haven’t gotten the chance, please feel free to! Thank you so much, we love you all, and God bless!
