After years of battling brain cancer, Senator Ted Kennedy is dead at age 77. He was the last remaining brother of the political family after his two older brothers were both assassinated. He was one of the most influential senators, known for his Democratic liberal agendas and one of the biggest proponents of the Obama Healthcare Reform plan.

The Kennedy family has released a statement upon his death:

“Edward M. Kennedy, the husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle we loved so deeply, died late Tuesday night at home in Hyannis Port (Massachusetts).”
