Have you noticed that Twitter has been acting strange over the past couple of days? This is because they’ve been combating a DDOS (denial of service) attack. The hackers attacked the site over a single member of the site that goes by the name “@Cyxymu”. Cyxmyu is a highly outspoken political commentator from The Republic of Georgia (the country in Eastern Europe, not the state in the U.S.) that just seemed to piss off the wrong crowd. Allegedly the hackers also went after his Facebook, Live Journal, and Blogger accounts too, but it was only Twitter that was brought to its knees.
Um, Twitter? Don’t you think it’s time to get a better IT staff if you’re going to have such a giant internet presence? How can they help it though, Twitter makes no money since the site is a free service with ad-free content.
They have not identified the hackers yet but internet experts say that they originated from Abkhazia, which is a territory by the Black Sea that’s in dispute between Russia and the Republic of Georgia.
So yeah…can’t you guys take this up with guns or something? Leave our Twitter alone!
